The company was founded in 1948 by Hans Otto Christiani as „Hans Christiani & Co.“ in Cologne, Germany. He developed and manufactured his own water pumps and electronic controls. Driven by the triggering economic force in Germany (the "Wirtschaftswunder“) the business rapidly grew in size. In 1959 the production moved to a larger industrial park in Cologne-Weidenpesch.

1970 – 1980
After successfully graduating from university as business engeneer, Rolf Christiani joined the company in 1975. He soon identified the growing demand for eco-friendly technologies. Thus, the development of physical water treatment units was added to the portfolio. Two years later in 1977 the first line of anti-scale devices was introduced to the market – the Catronic® Series. The successful products soon also captured the international market as in France, Italy, Spain, Hungary or Scandinavia.

1990 – 2000
The fall of the iron curtain in 1989 opened up a new market for physical water treatment. In 1991 after a long period of research by Rolf Christiani an improved anti-scaling device was introduced – The Vulcan Line. The market quickly adapted the new device and more than 50,000 units were sold in Germany alone. In May 1990 CWT moved to the manufacturing location of Eschweiler, Germany.

In 2005 Cedric Christiani joined the company and started to introduce the Vulcan technolgy to the international market. Soon larger units for industrial applications were introduced and successfully tested on the field. A fast expansion into Asia, South America and the Middle East called for an extended marketing. In 2006 Jessica Christiani who previously worked as a marketing expert was put in charge for this task. In 2006 the headquarter was moved to the German Capital city Berlin.
