1948 - 2008
60 years of tradition in the water treatment
In 2008, we took a look into the past, present and future of CWT. As the year 2008 marked a milestone in many ways for the family business.
Looking back: it all began in 1948 with the foundation of the company „Hans
Christiani & Co KG“ in Cologne. After several different stations around Germany the company was last located in Eschweiler until Mai 2008. In the summer of that same year, CWT finally reached its new international home base in the German Capital - Berlin. Uniting all parts of CWT in one company building with production facilities nearby just outside the city created the perfect environment for business development and flexible working conditions.
In October 2008 CWT celebrated the 60th company anniversary with many of the long lasting partners and friends.
We are all exited to take on the journey of the „next 60 years“ of CWT, Germany.

Catronic®

The Catronic® series was first used in 1977 and started with the name "Caltronic" which had to be changed later on due to legal naming righs.
The units have been constantly improved over the years and still prove to be one of the most reliable water treatment devices against scale and rust until today.
Popular units are the Catronic C2, Catronic C3 and the Catronic C4.
CWT still offers extensive support around this product line and we are happy to help you with any question you have.
The History of CWT

1948 - 1970
The company was founded in 1948 by Hans Otto Christiani as „Hans Christiani & Co.“ in Cologne, Germany. moreHe developed and manufactured his own water pumps and electronic controls. Driven by the triggering economic force in Germany (the "Wirtschafts-wunder“) the business rapidly grew in size. In 1959 the production moved to a larger industrial park in Cologne-Weidenpesch.

1970 – 1980
After successfully graduating from university as a business engineer, Rolf Christiani joined the company in 1975. moreHe soon identified the growing demand for eco-friendly technologies. Thus, the development of physical water treatment units was added to the portfolio. Two years later in 1977 the first line of anti-scale devices was introduced to the market – the Catronic® Series. The successful products soon also captured the international market such as France, Italy, Spain, Hungary and Scandinavia.

1980 – 1990
In 1980 the founder of the company Hans Otto Christiani passed away. The son was then in charge of the business. moreHe decided to focus on the future market of „physical water treatment“ and expanded the manufacturing and distribution of the products. In 1984 the company was restructured under its current name „Christiani Wassertechnik GmbH“.

1990 – 2000
The fall of the iron curtain in 1989 opened up a new market for physical water treatment. moreIn 1991 after a long period of research by Rolf Christiani an improved anti-scaling device was introduced – The Vulcan Line. The market quickly adapted to the new device and more than 50,000 units were sold in Germany alone. In May 1990 CWT moved to the manufacturing location of Eschweiler, Germany.

2000 - 2008
In 2005 Cedric Christiani joined the company and started to introduce the Vulcan technology to the international market. moreSoon larger units for industrial applications were introduced and successfully tested on the field. A fast expansion into Asia, South America and the Middle East called for extended marketing. In 2006 Jessica Christiani, who previously worked as a marketing specialist was put in charge for this task. In 2006, headquarters were moved to the German capital city, Berlin.
